BTSR guidebook ~ Training & skills self-evaluation

Training & skills self-evaluation guidebook

Peter Block

The Training & Skills self-evaluation process is now well understood by the broadcasters responsible for providing the BTSR with an annual return.

We developed the guidebook last year to help broadcasters:-

  • self-evaluate with more confidence
  • benchmark their provision against that of other broadcasters
  • identify actions they could take in order to reach a higher level within a strand
  • access relevant reference material and case studies

We are continually updating the content and adding more case studies. Do tell us what else would be useful.

As you navigate through the strands you’ll find pithy, forthright help on the characteristics of each level – including cases, examples and further references – and on what it takes to ascend the next level. And when you reach Strand 7 – evaluation systems – you’ll see how evaluation can tie together all the other strands.

But this is not our guidebook. It’s yours. Which is why you can add comments, both to help others who follow in your wake and – later on – to help us produce an even better version next time. Please contribute ideas and challenges, suggested reading (including books, journals & web links), recommended courses… anything, in fact, that you feel might be useful.

We are very grateful to all those broadcasters who participated in the self-evaluation and validation exercise, and who have shared their work as case studies. We hope you find the information contained here useful as you review your training & development and share the good practice of your colleagues.

Please let us know what you think,

Peter
